The Annual Chuck Nevins Surf Fishing Benefit is
sponsored by and held at the Bayville Elks Lodge.
This tournament was started to benefit our friend
Chuck Nevins. Chuck was a Berkeley Township police
officer and former Marine that was diagnosed with brain
cancer in September 2002. After two surgeries,
radiation treatment and chemotherapy, sadly Chuck lost
his battle with cancer December 2003.
With help from local sponsors and dedicated fisherman
we raised over $48,000 the first six years. This
tournament has grown from 30 participants the first year
to over 160 the sixth year!
Our friend Chuck is greatly missed, but we are assuring
that his memory lives on with this annual benefit. All
monies raised benefit area children with cancer.
